In the 1851 to 1852 Scottish Post Office Directory for Glasgow, Young is listed as a photographist at 15 Buchanan Street, in the 'NAMES TOO LATE FOR INSERTION' section of the directory. In the 1863 to 1864 directory he is still listed there as Stephen A. M'L photographist. In the 1867 - 68 Directory he is listed at 3 West Street.
