Daguerreotype developing box from c.1839-40. Contains a flap for viewing the development process. A metal well in the bottom for housing mercury and a mercury thermometer with temperature viewing along one of the outer sides. Made from pine with metal hinges and a metal hook and eyelet closure for the viewing flap. A small plate line can be seen inside the box to place the plate on for development.
