The boy is probably Charles Jacques Sayers, who later became administrateur in the sugar factory Poegoe on Java (Kendal, Semarang). He was born in Batavia at april 10th 1844 and died in Loosduinen at november 25th 1893 (Brakel, 2004, p. 129). This child is then the grandfather of painter Charles Sayers (1901-1943), who never knew kim.
