Three quarter length portrait of a family: Estonian writer Friedrich Reinhold Kreutzwald's wife Marie Elisabeth (1805-1888, former Saedler) and their two children, daughter Adelheid Anette (1834-1896, later Blumberg) and son Friedrich Alexis (1845-1910). The woman is sitting to the left, wearing a dark long sleeved dress, a pale lace-edged bonnet and a wedding ring. Her hands rest in her lap together. Her daugther is standing behind to her left, resting her hand on mother's right shoulder. She wears a dark long sleeved dress and a thin chain around her neck. The boy is sitting on a wooden chair to the right, resting his hands in his lap together. He wears a dark jacket and white collar is visible beneath the jacket. Part of the wooden back of his chair is also visible. The image has a plain background.
