Daguerreotype received from Johannes Sellæg (1894-1981) in 1973.
Has been repaired a long time ago. The case must have been repaired with new black textile tape and brown paper backing which cover the original maaterials used for binding and backing paper. The painted glass seems to be original.

Pencil annotations written on the back of the daguerreotype itself, by collection staff at the time of acquisition in 1973: "Tatt i 1862" and "*1973 Johs. Sellæg".

Osservazioni
Several indications point at the plate being opened and rebound with newer materials. The plate is deteriorated with dichrioitic discoloration around the image center, abrasions and debry on the surface. The glass cover is original but displays signs of glass sickness under the paint. The plate may have been moved when it was reattached during the repair.
