Ada the daughter of the infamous poet Lord Byron and the admired intellectual Annabella Milbanke. She studied science and mathematics at a time when women rarely had access to such subjects. She wrote about Babbage's calculating machines, seeing their potential. She is now celebrated as the authoress of the world's first computer programme.
