British double sensitising box made of a Tropical hardwood, with two slides in the side to allow a little light in and two hinged mirrors to allow the plate surface to be seen so as to judge the tint of the plate. The glass liners are cast as a single piece. They are each covered by their own sheet of ground glass. The liners sit on pieces of wood which have been painted black and these in turn sit on plate springs that act to push the liners against the ground glass to ensure a good seal. The lid and sliding plate holder are missing. Brass hinges and hooks and eyelets would have secured the missing lid. One tank would have held iodine crystals the other bromine.
