Charles H. Williamson, der 1851 aus Springfield in Massachusetts nach Brooklyn kam und dort bis zu seinem Tod 1874 als Photograph wirkte. Williamson gilt auch als erfolgreicher Aquarellist und kolorierte viele seiner Daguerreschen Porträts selbst. Als Williamson starb, ehrte ihn die Zeitung „Brooklyn Union“ am 23. Oktober 1874 mit folgenden Worten: „By the death of Charles H. Williamson the photographer of this city and, indeed, of the United States, have lost one of their most able associates in the profession.“ (Jochen Voigt: Spiegelbilder.
