En kort annonse av Carl Neupert som opplyser at han skal forlate Bergen med først ankomne båt til Kristiansand. Han skulle fortsette sine tjenester som daguerreotypist en kort periode.
A short announcement of Carl Neupert's approaching farewel with Bergen, as soon as a passenger steamer would leave for Kristiansand. He is still offering his services as daguerreotypist until then.
This short ad is probably the result of a heated competition in Bergen. Previous to his Bergen visit, Neupert stayed through the summer months as daguerreotypist in Trondhjem where he was successful. His coming to Bergen had been forewarned with numerous advertisments in Bergen throughout August until his arrival on the18th, 1844. His first large advertisement in the same newspaper was immediately met with a negative comment printed just below his own text (August 24th, 1844). It mentions "Mr. opticus Krogh" (Frederik Krogh had his ads in Bergens Stiftstidende) )as the acomplished daguerreotypist in town. Neupert's last ad in the paper was delivered on the 10th and printed on the 14th of September .
Just below the advertisement of Neupert follows a critical, even acidic comment by the newspaper to point out that Bergen is well acquainted with the daguerreotyes by opticus Krogh which are of high level of quality. Der Polytechniches Journal von Dinglar 1. Januar Heft. 1844 is mentioned to describe a Silver formula for the fixation of daguerreotypes.
