Old mount torn open and crudely resealed by H.I.W. in 1955. H.I.W. may be Harold White. Sealing improved by Nicholas Burnett in the late 1980s. Frame restoration that had been started by another conservator was finished by Nicholas Burnett at the same time.
Inscribed "J O Tubbs & Heph. Tubbs Manchester Septr. 1853" and in another hand, "for Lilian Hephzibah Tubbs with Aunt Emily's love." A later label repeats the same and adds, "Grandparents of Eva B. Wills into possession of Eric F. Wills 1954 remounted H.I.W. 1955"
